Uxplorer
Educational platform case study.
Uxplorer is a case study project developed during the Master's program in UX Design at BTS. This project addressed the challenge of overwhelming and scattered UX educational resources available online. We focused on designing and developing a platform to simplify the learning journey for UX professionals by consolidating resources into a single, structured space.

Uxplorer

Navigating the vast world of UX design education can be overwhelming. With countless courses, bootcamps, podcasts, and resources scattered across the web, finding the right path to learning can feel like a daunting task. Uxplorer simplifies this journey, consolidating valuable UX resources into a single, structured platform designed to empower UX professionals.

Uxplorer: Simplifying the UX learning journey.

Using Design Thinking, we created a platform that transforms how UX professionals discover and navigate educational resources, addressing the challenge of information overload in UX education.

The challenge:

  • Aspiring UX professionals face an overwhelming array of scattered educational resources online.
  • New learners and career-changers struggle to identify quality resources that match their skill level.
  • Without guidance, users often waste time and money on inappropriate courses or materials.
  • The fragmented nature of UX education creates barriers to entry and advancement in the field.

  • Approach & Process:

  • Conducted in-depth user research through interviews with recent graduates, UX students, and career-changers.
  • Developed detailed user personas based on different learning needs and career stages.
  • Created journey maps to understand pain points in the current learning process.
  • Applied Design Thinking methodology through all five phases: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
  • Used an iterative approach with continuous feedback from potential users.

  • Solution:

  • Developed Uxplorer, a platform that consolidates UX educational resources in one structured environment.
  • Created a personalized career plan feature that recommends learning paths based on experience level and goals.
  • Implemented a comprehensive search tool with filters to find relevant courses, books, and resources.
  • Designed detailed institution profiles to help users compare educational options.
  • Employed a freemium model to provide basic features for free while offering premium content for subscribers.

  • Impact:

    • User testing revealed high engagement with the search functionality and career planning features.
    • Test participants expressed willingness to pay for premium features based on the platform's value proposition.
    • The solution addresses a critical gap in the UX education market, with potential to scale for other design disciplines.
    • By simplifying resource discovery, Uxplorer helps reduce barriers to entry in the UX field.
